Marco was born in Milan in 1987. He was very interested in music in his youth which eventually led to his enrolment in Civica Scuola di Liuteria in Milan in 2011. He has worked with fellow Italian masters Lorenzo Lippi and Mirko Migliorini. This led Marco on an exploration of the guitars of the past, especially of Spanish origin, especially Antonio de Torres. Accordingly, his instruments are based on traditional Spanish construction methods centred on sweet tone combined with playability: a sweet, soft, well balanced timbre with deep basses and clear trebles balanced with good playability and sound projection. High quality, well-seasoned woods are used. The soundboards are Swiss Alps or Val di Fiemme spruce and the backs are Indian rosewood. All woods are fully traceable. All assembly uses organic hot glue and all guitars are French polished. (https://youtu.be/7Esufp1KDew ). We had the joy of meeting Marco at the Roma Expo Guitars 2019, an exposition of 30 Italian luthiers. Marco’s guitar stood out for us for its deep tone and resonance and we secured this spruce / rosewood example from him at the show. Each luthier had one of their guitars played by Anabel Montesinos in a public showcase at the exposition. You won’t be surprised to know that Marco’s guitar, the very one we are now offering, stood out very well. MARCO GILIOLI, Italy Spruce top 2019
