We are privileged to be appointed as UK distributor for the classical guitars of renowned German luthier Sascha Nowak.

Sascha Nowak is one of the most distinguished luthiers working in Germany today. He has been making guitars since the early 1980s and developed his skills in collaboration with fellow German luthier Rolf Eichinger. Sascha was joint winner of the German Musical Instrument Prize for 2008. Awarded by the Ministry of Economics and Technology, this significant prize of honour is given in recognition of particularly high-quality products from German musical instrument makers. It has been presented since 1991 in two varying categories. In 2008 these were Bass Clarinet and Classical Guitar. To find the prize winner the submitted instruments must undergo a time- intensive three stage trial at the Institute for Musical Instrument Construction in Zwota:
1/ Their acoustic characteristics are determined objectively, without player input.
2/ Five renowned musicians assess the instruments subjectively by playing them.
3/ An expert assesses the instruments to gauge their craftsmanship.

With regards to construction/ design and methodology Sascha's instruments are formatively influenced by the traditional handcraft of Southern Spain, especially the Granada School. Renowned representives of it are e.g. Antonio Marin, Jose Lopez Bellido or Antonio Raya.

Aside of such important criteria as response, dynamic range, balance, loudness, and projection, Sascha sets high value on the mouldability and plasticity of sound. By changing the kind of attack and technique, a wide colour spectrum should open to enable the musicians to vary their expression and artistic creation.

Sascha Nowak's guitars have everything you would ever want from a concert guitar. Tremendously well balanced with exceptional clarity of voices, this guitar works with the player and puts up no resistance. Although strung with high tension corum strings, they feel very light and supple under the fingers. Loud and punchy bases exhibiting the strong attack and even decay associated with the best Granada guitars.
