Rene Baarslag was born in Holland and moved to Granada in 1977 to become a luthier.

He played classical guitar as a teenager and went originally to Granada to learn flamenco but got interested in lutherie on the same visit.

He first apprenticed to the famous Granada luthier Antonio Marin Montero and later spent some time with Robert Bouchet in France.

He still makes guitars in Granada today along with his wife, Ana Espinosa, who is also a fine luthier.
