We are very proud to be the first to bring Dmitry Zhevlakov's guitars to Europe. Dmitry is one of Russia's top guitar makers and comes from a family of guitar makers.

This instrument is a cedar/spruce double top in the style of Damman and Wagner. The standard of craftsmanship is outsanding as can be seen from the detail in his rosettes and bindings, which he also manufactures for many well know luthiers worldwide, such as John Price in Australia and Bert Kwakkel in Holland.

Everyting is made by hand, Dmitry uses no power tools. The sound has the warmth of cedar but also sustains well and while there is plenty of volume, quiet passages retain their tonality. If you have not played a double top before, this is one to try!

You will be immediately aware of how easy it is to play with an incredibly fast response.

Dmitry Zhevlakov was born in 1973 in Tula (Russia) into the family of the guitarmaker Alexander Zhevlakov. Since his childhood he helped his father to make classical guitars and inlays for other instruments. Alexander Zhevlakov made guitars for professional guitarists all over Russia such as S. Rudnev, guitar master and composer, S. Pavlov and many others, so his guitars were heard regularly in concert. This is the atmosphere that Dmitry grew up in and this formed his ideas of the professional guitar's sound. His father and his friend's would constantly discuss the probelms and solutions of professional guitarists. Alexander Zhevlakov worked in the "Moscow Experimental Factory of Musical Instruments". He was helped by his father Vasily Zhevlakov (Dmitry's grandfather), technologist and designer, who also developed equipment for manufacturing of guitars, guitar rosettes and mosaic, and also made instruments humself.
